The Karnataka State government has decided to send Ayurveda medicines to to Ebola hit Liberia to rein in the dreaded disease.

Health and Family Welfare Minister U T Khadar told Maryland County Senior Senator John Akel Ballout, who is also Liberia National Security Senate Committee Chairman about the State's decision when the latter called him.

Ballout informed that Ebola virus, raging across Africa showed no signs of abating, with about 3,000 cases reported and more than 2,000 deaths across five West African countries, with half the deaths in Liberia.

Senator Ballout enquired about the healing efficacy of Ayurveda. Stating his online research had revealed that a similar disease like Ebola had been cured by Ayurveda in ancient times, the Liberian Senator requested Khadar for adequate supply of Ayurvedic medicine.

In response, Khadar said he too had heard from his department that there was a natural remedy for Ebola and assured sending free medicine and once effectiveness was confirmed by Liberian authorities, the State would supply more free medicine to Liberia and other affected countries.

Wilfred DSouza, a Mangalorean in Liberia since two years, and closely associated with Khadar during their student political organisation days, was responsible for the meeting.
D'Souza returned to Mangalore few days ago after Ebolo broke out in Liberia.
